Hats, Shoes, Umbrellas, Candy and Wine

I walked into a clothing store in Niagara Falls, I can't remember what it was called outside the Casino, and I was greeted with SHOES, SHOES and SHOES ... a whole lot of shoes lining about 1/4 of the walls of the store. I immediately snapped pictures of the place... and I bought several shoes for under $20.00 dollars!

This Winners store in Toronto, featured HATS! They had a whole bunch of hats for an entire wall.  This is only the what I could fit in the picture.

Here, we have umbrellas taken from Union Station on the lower level. I took them from up above. They look truly bright even though they were taken in the winter.

Here we have fudge, in bars, lined up along the store. Taken at Niagara Falls outside the Casino, and the place for storing them is made of marble.

And here we have wine; I doubt know what kind of wine this is but it is about a year or so in the wine barrels. They were purchased in France for a company I have talked about a lot in my blog ... Willow Springs Winery at Stouffville, Ontario.

Cranes In My Life ...

Cranes EVERYWHERE! Especially in the part of the city that I am at.

One is Union Station and home ... home to Union Station. This is three different construction sites on my trip that I will have passed through. The cranes are so-o-o tall and they're necessary for in the ground as well as up high.

This is a condo at York Street and Lakeshore Blvd (taken from various points)

Little Simcoe Street is the site for Delta Hotels going in the Bremner Blvd.

They're building a Ripley's Believe It or Not Aquariam right beside the CN Tower.

On another route, this can be seen from the Spadina streetcar on it's way down to Front Street.

This is over bit - right next to the CBC building (shown here with red crosses on the windows) and across from the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre.

I took this a block away from our restaurant on King Street. The Hyatt Hotel is the building on the left of the picture in between Peter and John Streets. John Street and Adelaide Street West is the address of the condo.

There lots more construction sites going up and this (6) is just a little of it.

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls!

It was a gorgeous day and the falls were spread out before me in my hotel room, the Hilton. In the last year, the Niagara Falls people, have built a lot of hotels, Skylon Towers and places for to people to go.

Skylon Tower, bridge to U.S and the
American Falls/Bridal Veil Falls

The American Falls combined with the
tiny Bridal Veil Falls and a RAINBOW!

Horseshoe Falls
It isn't just Honeymoon Villa anymore ( see the release of 'Niagara', a 1953 movie starring Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Cotten), it's a copy of Las Vegas etc with the Casinos dotting the landscape. It has lights at night lighting up the falls, it has winter and the view is WONDERFUL!

Outside the Niagara Casino, they have a

AutoShow ... Just Down the Street

On Friday I went to the AutoShow at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. This is right down the street from me. I can see it from my window. In the Skywalk, I saw a sign pushing the AutoShow. It said:

It was made with CAR PARTS ...

The Fords, Toyota and the Volkswagen had Hybrid cars. There very expensive compared to the present models... maybe in the next couple of years I will be able to drive them.

I got a really good idea for my car and I'll have to check it out ... This is amazing!

Willow Springs Winery, Stouffville, Ontario

In Stouffville ... 5572 Bethesda Road ... It's true. Founded by Mario and Julie Testa, Willow Springs Winery is a "bunch" of grapes (11 acres of them) behind the beautiful winery atop the Oak Ridges Moraine.

They grow and are harvested to make red and white wine. (The Icewine comes from the Niagara Peninsula where grapes are grown to leave out all autumn ... not so in Stouffville where it is cold.)

They press the wine on site in big vats in the basement of the winery and store it in barrels and stainless steel containers. The Testa version, requiring a VQA certification, is aged in oak for a period of 12 months in French barrels for added complexity and body.

Second City Comedy ...

Dreams Really do Come True! (and other lies) ... http://www.secondcity.com ... it's over now but we went to it. Was it ever funny! I laughed and laughed and laughed but I can't tell you what was funny. It was so funny that I laughed and laughed ... well, you know ...

At the end, we went down the street to a bar at the corner of John and Richmond Street. We got onto the second floor and there were pool tables, bowling and hockey (four people can do that, well I suppose two). In the bar, we watched the band. Is was fun!

Watching the Winnipeg Jets ...

I was there! In the box, with all my friends and wow!... do the fans in the audience have enough enthusiasm for the Jets? The MTS Centre is packed, approximately 15,000+ seats, and all cheering and booing and I don't know what else but very emotional. At the end, they where matched 3-3 at the end of three periods. So in OT, the Panthers' scored to capture the shootout on the seventh attempt. It was very exciting!

After, we went to the bar just over the corner...

For breakfast, Derek made us omeletes. And very carefully he stood making them, each one separate. They contained green pepper, cheese (both cheddar and feta), tomatoes and mushrooms. Were they ever good!

Derek, Cindy and Dave at the theatre for
Shirley Valentine. It was really good ...
We went for dinner first.

We're babisitting! And Mary and Matt play the piano.
Matt wears a hat.
I was there for five days. I took pictures of the slats on the patio ... not much snow they have here in Winnipeg ... and I gazed at my feet (their there, of course) drinking red wine.
